Monochrome trend: how to do it

Monochrome truly is one of the hottest looks this season. It has been showcased by some of the most hottest designers from Prada to Calvin Klein as well as winning over many celebrity hearts like Emma Watson and Olivia Palermo. It comes as no surprise as it’s extremely wearable, flattering and it can be a wonderful staple piece for your wardrobe. The brave among us may like to embrace the animal and digital monochrome looks that can be found almost everywhere. Just remember to keep it neat and mix pattern with a block colour. Too much of the one thing can lead to name and shaming on Fashion Police. 😉

Here Asos model Bree, is wearing these cool checkered print leggings paired with a plain black top. This is a prime example of how to wear a pop of monochrome put keeping it cool. The white gilet is very versatile and can be paired with so many things. Take a black long sleeve top and a pair of dark denim skinny jeans and your done! If you just want to add mild hints into your wardrobe by accessoring then this bag from Matalan or my new favourite hi-tops from River Island are great additions to your wardrobe.

I really liked this skirt from Madison Plus who recently launched their own plus size range, MP Select. It’s quite bold but as everything else is kept simple it looks oh so chic. The print dress from Topshop is a great get up and go dress. Pair it with black heels, a leather jacket and you at set for the night.

The dress is a great shape with the black side panelling that will give you a curvy figure flattering Beyonce body.

Style Me Curvy tips:

Sometimes blazers can make you look bigger than you are. Make sure the tailoring suits your frame, don’t be afraid to go down a size especially if like me you like to wear your blazers open for a more casual feel. Petite ladies should try verticalstriped monochrome, either with a top or skinny jeans, it will make you look taller. Avoid thin vertical lines as it will give the illusion of a wide frame. Go for thicker lines instead. For example the Topshop top I picked above.
