Vichy Aqualia Thermal review

Over the last few weeks I’ve really battled with my beauty routine due to the unpredictability of mother nature. Dehydrated and dry looking skin being my main issue regardless of how much water I seem to drink. So when Vichy asked me to review some products, a brand which regularly sits in my beauty pile, I was more than happy to try out their new improved  Aqualia Thermal Serum and Aqualia Thermal Light for dehydrated skin. What I discovered recently is that dehydrated skin doesn’t necessarily mean dry. You can actually have oily skin that’s dehydrated too. This is basically down to poor water distribution in our bodies which will often give lifeless, dull looking skin. With the two items below I’ve gone into lots of detail as to what Vichy have come up with.

Aqualia Thermal Serum

I’ve tested both items for the last two weeks, but as soon as I applied the serum I knew it was an instant ‘love at first sight’ product moment. The only way I can describe it the fresh feeling it gives, would be equivalent to putting fresh sheets on your bed after a long, crazy week. 🙂 What’s new about it? Well firstly they’ve added a new dynamic hydration technology, to help distribute moisture evenly on the face. Carrageenans have been used, which are extracts from red seaweed so this helps to take away any redness while giving a smooth and prolonged moisturised effect. They’ve also increased the levels of Hyaluronic acid, so it will plump up the skin but also help to bring water to the skins surface layer and keep it there for up to 48 hours! They’ve also changed the design of the bottle, and I was delighted to see the style was based on their sister product Vichy Idealia, as one pump will cover your entire face easily. Very well priced for €24/£19 giving you great bang for your buck too!

Aqualia Thermal Light

To complement the serum comes the Aqualia Thermal Cream. It is available in Light – for normal to combination skin, and Rich  for dry to very dry skin types and comes in a tube form as seen above or in a tub like here. I found it really refreshing when I paired it with the serum on days where my skin really needed that extra hit of moisture.

If you are using this as a base before your foundation then be sure that it is applied evenly as I did notice at times a powdery look could come through. Perhaps it just didn’t agree with the foundation I was using ( Mac Face & Body), but I find it best suits me for an evening after a long day or on a makeup free day.  It definitely brightened my skin without a shiny finish to it and I’ve kept it near me when in need of a burst of hydration.

Price: €15.50/ £12.30 for the tube or €23/£18 for a 50ml sized tub

Consistency

The serum as you can see above is transparent, very light and spreads easily. After you have applied it to your face it will dry under 60 seconds. For the Light Cream, it has more of a gel cream feel to it than you would expect. Very little product is actually needed as again it spreads nicely and dries in without any sticky or greasy texture. So overall I’m very happy to have been introduced to these products as my skin no longer feels like I’ve been living inthe Sahara desert! The timing for this is also perfect for those who need a skin revival from the Summer, to then helping you keep on top of your skin needs for the Winter. The price point is one of my favourite things about it as its really generous for the ingredients involved.
