Wedding Guest Style Abroad

While wedding guest looks can be overwhelming for many, adding a wedding abroad can bring a whole new level of fashion dilemmas with hot weather thrown into the equation. Of course many of us have a whole year to plan for it, but nevertheless you’ll still find yourself running around the week before in a fashion frenzy. Alas, I’ve found a few stores this year that seem to have nailed occasion looks for wedding guests but also for those weddings in the sun too. Last week I headed to my wonderful friends wedding in Avignon, France which was a perfect way to put the above to the test. Look One: Pre Wedding Dinner On The Pont d’Avignon Bridge

The day before we had the pre wedding dinner which was set on the stunning Pont d’Avignon bridge. With the heat to humidity on the day, a light and flowy number was definitely in order. I recently picked this dress up in Oasis from their Chelsea Garden collection. It’s something which would work on various body types and while Oasis can be small in sizing this is something which would easily fit up to a size 18 as the material was oversized with a drawstring effect. It’s 100% silk meaning it retails at a higher price point that your average high street dress, but given the colour combination along with the handkerchief effect it was definitely an investment piece as I know I’ll still wear this next summer too.

The Wedding Guest Look

For the wedding day itself, I had been searching high and low to find something wedding appropriate that I equally wouldn’t pass out in with the heat. I happened to come across a store I hadn’t really heard of before called Quiz. It had a selection of casual summer to more formal pieces and with a size selection which went from sizes 6-18. This navy dress number is fully lined with a tulle underskirt which kept its shape even in the humidity. There was a delicate stretch on the back that you wouldn’t really notice based on the lace detailing, but it was a blessing especially if you are fuller busted or if you have broad shoulders in any way. For accessories I added my Folli Follie jewellery and kept my shoes and clutch a classic nude combination.

You can find the dress here or below along with similar styles.
