NYFW Look: Day 3 – Safari chic

By day 3 as the weather got hotter dresses and skirts became an essential for most, while others braved long sleeves and double denim styles. Today I embraced more of a safari chic look with a khaki and cream ensemble as it was perfect for various shows I had to attend while stopping me from overheating!

I opted for a longline waistcoat as it’s a style that looks tailored but could still be somewhat breathable. For the winter months however, swapping sleeveless styles with long sleeve tops, polonecks ( turtle neck for U.S readers), or long sleeve dresses is definitely a great cosy ensemble. It’s a trend that’s been around the last two years and continues to mark its territory in the fashion world. You’ve probably seen me wear various styles over the last few months but khaki is a great in between choice that can easily work across all seasons. It’s from New Look and I paired it with a built in choker inspired top from Primark but you can get similar styles in various online stores also.

The key thing I always find with waistcoats in order to suit all shapes is to pair them with fitted or semi fitted styles. This wrap skirt is extremely curve friendly and grazes over a tummy area perfectly and is also accompanied by tie detailing if you wish to define your waistline even more. By fluke this skirt I had bought was actually the same shade of khaki so it was one of those serendipity style moments as the outfit blended together perfectly!

Accessories

To finish off a safari chic look the accessories of course are just as important! I opted for a statement safari inspired bag and key jewellery pieces. As the neckline of my top was high, I opted for a chunky cuff bracelet and rings combination. The sunglasses were quite Miu Miu inspired which were sent to me by GlassesUSA.com. I love the shape of the frame which has a great designer feel to it. They come in at around the $71 price point and they do ship internationally also!
