Catwalk Curves: Dolce & Gabanna Inspired

Dolce and Gabanna have been one of my favourite designer brands for as long as I can remember. I love their new take on things year in, year out. Their A/W 2016 ready to wear collection was certainly one of my favourites fusing Alice In Wonderland boldness with romantic goth vibes and of course their trademark floral signature stamp on things too. Today I wanted to bring some D&G inspiration that would work for all curvy frames whether you are a size 8 and busty to plus sizes as well as various budgets too.  I’ve linked a selection of styles also at the bottom of this post that is broken down into style ideas for petite and tall friends also.

This particular dress is from Next who have a brilliant range of D&G inspired styles in at the moment. The layered lace look in particular gives a stunning dramatic effect that you can make as glamourous or paired back as you like. For example to give more of an edge to this, simply add a leather jacket to give ultimate goth girl glamour.  I find looking to lace styles that are slightly sheer on top enables all bust sizes to wear this style easily. You have coverage and an illusion at the same time giving you the option to wear various bra styles be it a push up bra for those who want added umph or by contrast a bra minimiser for those who want to play down their assets.

As D&G layered lace styles have been such a hit in the catwalks and in media, highstreet brands have followed suit with various styles to suit all. For petites this is actually a style that would be really easy to wear in a floor length look like this as the lining finishes at the knee giving the illusion of a taller frame – it won’t consume you compared to other floor length black styles.

Opting for styles now that combine some kind of embroidery detail means you will be head of the trends for 2017. I loved how the detail on today’s dress sweeps across the bust and down one side with true Dolce and Gabanna vibes that are extremely flattering on the body too. For accessories I added this beautiful velvet and floral embellished hair band, similar to what was seen on the D&G AW16 catwalks and a simple nude clutch to let everything else do the talking.
