Growing up in my family New Years Eve was always a big occasion to dress up. Today I wanted to use an New Years Eve theme to show a more formal style that would work as some black tie and Winter wedding inspiration or "At The Races" style for the next few weeks. I find statement skirts to be one of my favourite investment pieces as it means you can wear it again and again with various tops to make it look different. Today's skirt is from Coast, which goes up to a size 18 in their stores but also they have collaborations with both Asos and Simply Be that cater for bigger sizes up to a size 26 also.
Bright vibrant reds are so timeless while being a colour that is so wearable throughout the year. I paired this skirt with a fitted funnel neck jumper which is an elegant but cosy combination I really like at the moment. My key tip would be if you are looking to jumper styles, ensure the fabric is quite thin so it both sits into the skirt perfectly but also it won't bulk you out in the wrong areas. For the warmer months I would probably pair this with a black bodice or a one shoulder top.
For accessories I went with statement drop earrings which are vintage Chanel from my grandmother, an embellished clutch and some ballerina charm with these lace up heels. I've added various options and styles at the bottom of this page too for international readers.
