Start The New Year In Style With TK Maxx

As the first post of 2017, I’m delving into two things I love the most, fashion and travel. Both play a huge part in my life and for 2017 my goals are to add more destinations to my travel list. I’m lucky my job takes me to so many different places too and today I’m really thrilled to have teamed up with TK Maxx who set me the task of picking up some items to embrace the New Year with some fabulous bargain finds!

Travel is a big part of my job as a model, and in this sense oftentimes it can be really last minute. I can be at the computer one day and get a call to do a shoot in a different country within 24 hours. It’s exciting but at times it can be a bit stressful. So I’ve wanted to create my “travel go to look” to be ready at all times while having practical pieces for everyone to look to also. When I went into the store I was certain of what I needed or so I thought. However putting a fashion obsessed blogger that gets easily distracted by pretty thing and shiny objects was quite testing! You will also find some stationery inspiration at the bottom of this post that I simply couldn’t resist, to help plan my travels!!

Outfit inspiration:

I wanted a look that I could wear comfortably travelling but also that I could wear to a model casting as a lot of the time I have to dash off the plane and straight to see clients. For this black jeans and a t-shirt top is a must for models so I found these beautiful skinny jeans and a light t-shirt top with cut out shoulder detail. The jacket was a combination of a biker feel with a thick smart jacket which I’ve been on the look out for ages as it sits slightly long lined and it was massively reduced too which was amazing! No airport attire is complete either without a tote bag to hold all the essentials, so I picked up this leather handbag which has a number of compartments for a purse, passports, notes etc.. perfect for travelling.

When it comes to luggage I am definitely not a light packer. I find it so difficult to limit what I’m bringing away because I love to have all my home comforts with me! I opted for a bright colour for a change and also went for a hard case effect as they are meant to be better for protecting your items. Other “casing” finds included this designer laptop case. I’ve wanted something thats lightweight yet will still protect my laptop while I’m on the go, and it happens to fit into my handbag which was perfect.

For boots, these are definitely going to be a travel essential for me, they were the first things I picked up for this look as the block heel is so easy to walk in. Beware though.. the shoe department has so many options that I did end up delaying myself trying on five other pairs of pretty shoes!

Mastering the Art Of TK Maxx Shopping

When it came to the fashion part for those that may not have shopped in this department store before, TK Maxx in store areas are designed by topic and sizes. So for example I went straight to the size 16 jeans section and picked up a few different styles to see what worked best for my shape. It was really easy and an organised way to shop if you know exactly what you’re looking for but would like options. There are also deliveries several times week to all stores so options are always varied and updated. Sizing: The sizing is quite broad which was really nice to see especially as there was a great mix of designer pieces. As it’s a department store full of discounted designer wear and key labels it means you are getting sizes from different parts of the world. You’ll find roughly sizes 6 -24 and with a lot of American brands to be found, so there is a number of sizes that would easily work up to a size 26 too.

Stationery Heaven

As I mentioned I did end up picking up some stationery bits that I just couldn’t resist! There was so much in stock from journals to crafts and notebooks so I picked these polka dot and travel notebooks to plan out 2017 properly and start adding to my travel list! 🙂
