When In Rome …

Rome will forever be one of my favourite places to visit. There is such an effortless charm about this city, every side street you walk onto feels like it has a story. It’s a place where you can sit for hours on end just watching street style and the world go by or you can surround yourself in history and breathtaking architecture all day long. The first time I saw the Colosseum in real life I was 14 years old and I just fell in love with it. I was always so intrigued by how perfectly imperfect it was as an ancient landmark, so shooting a blog post look out here was certainly exciting!

For the day that was in it I wanted a look that was of course a blend of Italian style but that ticked off some Summer occasionwear inspiration. I teamed up with Primark for this post to create something that doesn’t have to come with a heavy price tag yet is still full of style and suitable for a broad range of events people might have on their list around this time of the year.

The dress is an off the shoulder frill number with a straight cut shift dress style so you will find that any body shape will be able to wear this. And while it can appear shapeless in some angles, the Bardot detail teamed with a bell sleeve and the dress length sitting just above the knee collectively creates a great balance. Usually I would shy away from styles that don’t define some sort of waistline but the comfort and elegant factor to this dress is a statement number in itself. As you walk you can’t help but feel confident in it.

I paired the dress with some designer inspired nude heels with floral detail and a simple nude clutch for something quite neutral and easy to wear particularly for a wedding guest look. If you wanted something more colourful; red or burnt orange lace up style heels would give this a different feel altogether or simply look to a statement hat for a more “At The Races” look.
