Workwear Fashion Inspiration This Summer

Todays blog post has been one of my most requested for July. Workwear for Summer can be such a tricky one considering how temperamental the weather can be around this time of the year meaning our fashion choices can quickly become mundane. I wanted to put something together that would work as great fashion “go -to’s” either worn all together like today or separately with other basics in your wardrobe, while still achieving some stand out style. Regardless of what body type you are you will find todays look will be quite easy to achieve and extremely comfortable for a day at the office, meetings or even for after work drinks. I’ve also added other workwear style ideas at the bottom of this post for the dress lovers too!

The statement blazer: While stripes can scare some people I find bold monochrome contrasts actually give a great streamlined look to almost anything. It’s something that looks effortlessly smart which could also work perfectly paired with black culottes, trousers or skinny jeans if you work in a more laid back environment. Structured blazers also give you great options to restyle easily with a smart pencil skirt, a tailored jumpsuit or even an LBD to maximise your workwear wardrobe.

Cropped trousers: While some people consider themselves more dress or skirt fans, three quarter length trousers are surprisingly more versatile and chic than you may have thought. Frills are a big trend this year so I opted for trousers which are a combination of practicality with a fashionable twist to it. This style is extremely popular on the high street and among designers so coming across them in any size won’t be difficult. The majority I’ve come across have been high waisted too which will give you more options to mix and match tops for day or night. White as a colour choice makes a Summer statement but still a great way to “look the business” – if however you prefer more darker shades however I’ve added some at the bottom of the post.

The summer top essential: When it comes to smart dressing for Summer, V cut tops in a satin or silk finish will be your best friend. Silk helps to keep you cool throughout the day but the V cut works perfectly for every kind of bust size. The likes of River Island, Marks & Spencer, Dorothy Perkins & Eloquii have a great selection online in classic cuts ( NOT plunging styles!-It is workwear of course!). What I do like about these kind of cami tops is how effortless they are to restyle with other items in your wardrobe. I literally have one in every colour as you never know when you might need it! For this particular style it I left it loose over the trousers- if you are a apple or pear shape, or perhaps you find you have an lower tummy area that’s bothering you this way would work really well on your frame.

The workwear handbag: I’m the type of person that does like to take the kitchen sink with me when I’m at back to back meetings for the day. I always look for something I can fit my ipad into , diary, notebook, makeup essentials, and flat shoes! While most people have a classic black handbag to do them throughout the year a pop of colour can actually be a great contribution to your wardrobe. Take for example todays colour popping red shade – you could add this to a full head to toe black outfit and yet it would still give it a summer lift.
