The Transeasonal Coat Edit

January can be a difficult time when it comes to finding key pieces for your wardrobe. We’re in that inbetween season phase where if you are buying something new you want it to work now as well as into Spring which can be tricky to strike that balance. A key issue for me is coats, mainly because I’m ALWAYS cold, so I do like to look to interesting pieces that will be both transeasonal but still warm or giving me the option to layer! Today I’ve put together this look talking about both statement coats and new little black dress finds with a huge list of other styles, colours and sizes options at the bottom of this page too for everyone.

Statement coats are definitely favourite of mine because it dresses up the most basic of items in anyone’s wardrobe. Today’s find blends 60’s chic with millennial pink. It’s perfect if you have a lot of black in your wardrobe as it will instantly give your look a lift while being perfectly on trend for the Spring/ Summer months too. It’s also that perfect mid weight fabric meaning you could layer a biker jacket underneath to give this coat more of an edge or a cosy knit jumper!

To change up your look can style this coat easily with:

Light wash denim jeans an a monochrome t-shirt

A denim dress

A white shirt dress,

A tailored jumpsuit or palazzo pants

An A-line skirt or black, white and blue denim skinny jeans

So while at first glance statement coat finds might appear limiting for what you can wear it with, but there is in fact a huge amount of ways to restyle them and get extra mileage out of your purchase. For those who might not be a huge fan of pink either I’ve added lots of style at the end of the post to suit all statement and colour taste buds!

The LBD

For today I paired the coat with this LBD shift dress number to keep up today’s 60’s vibes!  I spotted it recently on River Island and I loved the cross over detail it had- giving it more umph than typical plain shift dress styles. It was generous in fit ( usually I get a size 18 in dresses but a 16 would work perfectly for this particular style). I’ve added more LBD dress options at the bottom of the page also as there are again a perfect transeasonal staple piece thats so easy to give a Spring feel to with accessories along.
