Fashion Spotlight: The Peplum

Todays post is about the love and practicality of peplums. Don't get me wrong over the years I've had a few poor peplum choices which completely turned me off the idea, but in the last year I've seen so many interesting styles, it gave me that push to try them again and I'm so glad that I did.

What I learned is that sticking with styles that have good structured fabrics will sit on your body so much better.  It creates that interesting silhouette and illusion effect a lot of people look for.
It's a style that can be incredibly useful for those who don't necessarily have a defined waistline or perhaps you want to create more of an hourglass effect, then looking to peplum styles is a great cheat sheet to create just that. Similarly if you are the type of person that shies away from pencil dresses because you might have a lower tummy area, peplums which disguise this too.

In todays post I've picked my peplum favourite that would work for numberous occasions as well as other ways to wear peplum outfits from tops to skirts and how to create an easy jumpsuit effect. If you can't find a dress you like you can recreate a similar look with a peplum skirt and simple top or the reverse of a peplum top paired with a pencil skirt. For a more casual effect look to skinny jeans, shorts and various trouser styles all shown below will work a treat too!:)
