Summer Shorts Edit

Top: Next here sizes 6-22 / shorts here – sizes 6-22

Shorts are something I’m always asked about. I’m a huge shorts fan for day or night but also in terms of practicality, for example if that dress you really love is just that inch too short, adding shorts underneath can be a simple and effective solution. When you’re in need of a last minute outfit idea, smart tailored shorts are a brilliant option as they work with so much or perhaps you want to create more of a playsuit effect (romper if you’re reading this in the U.S) a matching top and shorts combo will do this instantly. Below I’ve added come styles that will be great for now and staples for next summer too.

Denim finds

Boyfriend cut shorts for me are my personal favourite style. It’s relaxed around the leg area meaning it doesn’t cling or cause friction against your leg as you walk. I’ve added a few options below including the longer lined denim styles for those who prefer that kind of fit.

Boyfriend ripped shorts (petite & tall also) : Next sizes 6-22 here / Ribbon tie shorts River Island sizes 6-18 here / Eloquii smart denim shorts here sizes 14-28 US  / Long line denim – Evans heresizes 14 -32.

High waisted

Black trim shorts: Dorothy Perkins sizes 8-22 here / Blue shorts New Look sizes 8-18 here / Aztec shorts Simply Be here sizes 10-32 / White shorts Next here sizes 6-22/ High waisted shorts work for every body type. I have them in all versions from the casual to the more formal. The dressier kind can be paired with a blazer or a shirt for a smart city look or opting for a bold print, paired with a Bardot top for a chic summer look.

Frillseeker

Stripe shorts – Simply Be – sizes 10-32 here / Red shorts River Island here sizes 6-18 / Peach frill shorts River Island sizes 6-18 here ( more colours available)  / Print shorts New Look sizes 6-18 here I find frill detail instantly adds oomph to any outfit and it can also add length to certain styles too. They are worth trying if you haven’t been a huge shorts fan in the past as they tend to give more of an A-line skirt effect around the leg area.
