The Primark Alice Liveing Sportswear Collection 2019

Last year Primark held their first collaboration with fitness guru Alice Liveing and for 2019 they’ve collaborated again with a colourful, fun, playful collection that creates styles for all tastebuds. A key thing I loved most was how the collection has a sustainable element as it’s been made with recycled polyester and renewable plant based materials! There is 44 pieces in this range giving options for the more casual athleisure styles to more activewear and I’m thrilled to be collaborating with the brand today to show you my favourite curve friendly favourites. I love reviewing gym wear for various reasons, as a plus size model it’s a common assumption that “we don’t work out” – the biggest myth of all because we do!  Secondly I feel the concept of fitness shouldn’t be a “one size fits all” aspect, and all shapes and sizes should feel included in the sports world whether they do so in a fitness capacity or in a more casual daywear style, which is why todays post for me is a great way to kickstart the first blogpost of 2019 with a brand who has the same ethos.

First up is this pastel look. These ombre leggings have more of a firm control shape-wear feel to them which I loved. They hold you in all the right places, they’re high waisted and they would make for a great option if you were doing heavy cardio, pilates or yoga; exercises where you want to ensure everything stays in place and not having to worry about things rolling down! A common issue for curvy hips and bums! (Throughout this shoot they were certainly put through their paces!haha!).

In terms of top options, there are plenty of colour choices to mix and match with this. There is a matching ombre top which is quiet fitted and the same material as the leggings but for busty gals and those who might prefer more coverage I opted for this loose fit sleeveless t-shirt. There were lots of other sleeve options as well sports jackets for outdoors. You can also look for a more layered style like I did here with a half zip sweatshirt.

The Statement Style Alice Liveing Option:

The next look I chose is certainly more of a statement feel channeling all the neons to bold prints and feather detail. When I went into my local Primark store this immediately jumped out at me, it was something a little different yet fun and great for those who really adore colour or like to mix and match bold prints with plainer sports styles in their wardrobe.

The neon top is a crop top effect in a light cotton meaning you can easily wear this during your workout or for an every day sports style (and it will still feel really breathable). The leggings are high waisted and offered more light to medium control. If you prefer more of a snug fit you could definitely go down a size as this had really good stretch to it- here I’m wearing the size 18 (XL) for reference. For the sports bra in the comfort stakes I found this to be brilliant. Each year the Primark sports bras for fuller busts are getting better and better. The band around the ribcage should always be firm and never loose. This is for numerous reasons but primarily the main function is of course is to support the chest. It has a cross detail back and soft padding in the cup area which I personally prefer, it’s also done in sizing as opposed to specific cup sizes ( I’m an odd cup size so finding sports bras in general for me is hard to find). I went with the size 18 in this based on a cup size of 40D.
