Debutante dilemmas

With the summer passing the halfway mark, the clock is ticking for you debutants to find that perfect dress. It’s a really stressful time, you want everything to be perfect and so it should be! Here are some of my tips that might help you conquer the biggest dilemma, the dress! When finding a dress for the night, it’s important you pay attention to two rules : 1- The golden rule of fashion: Find a dress that suits your frame. 2: Be comfortable in what your wearing. If you turn your back on both of these rules you’ll be looking back on photos in years to come saying ”oh god” and more than likely you won’t enjoy your night either. If you are not sure take a look at my “What body type are you ?” section. Here you will see a whole selection reflecting celebrity body types and examples of red carpet dresses which will help you on your dress hunt. If you are the petite kind then checking out my loos Longoria post is a must. Her style is just flawless!

The point that many people miss is that looking fabulous doesn’t have to come with a massive price tag. By the time you add tickets, limos, hair and makeup it all starts to add up. You also have to ask yourself, will you really wear the dress again? Probably not, but do not panic because fashion Guru’s such as ‘Rent the Runway’ and ‘Girl Meets Dress’ are making lives easier by renting luxury gowns! Yay!

For my US viewers Rent the Runway.com is amazing. They stock a large selection of designer wear such as Diane von Furstenberg and Proenza Schouler and range from $50 – $200 dollars for a four night loan. Lending luxury provides a rental service for evening gowns, pricing from $50- $400. Their dresses have been seen on American Idol, In Style and Good Morning America.

If you are based in the the UK , Girl Meets Dress stock stunning designers from Phillip Lim to Marc Jacobs and range from £59 – £130. They also rent items from the Gorgeous Couture Swarvoksi collection too.

If your based in Ireland, then two of my favourite stores are Divine boutique and theIvory closet . Their stock are always up to date, size friendly, and on trend with a plesant price tag too! If however, you know exactly what you want, and you want to buy it in full, but your driving yourself and those around you mad because its “just not right” then give yourself a breather. Get yourself a comfy seat, a large cuppa tea, and take to the net. I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised, especially with celebrity and evening wear stores such as GorgeousCouture and New York Dresses which will transform you into a red carpet goddess in no time.:)

If you feel your more of a High Street diva then here are some of my favourites that I‘ve picked out. Ted Baker mint and black tie maxi dress : E 140 River Island Navi high neck ballet dress : E110 Coast black satin figure dress: E285 Top Shop pink sequinned prom dress : E150 Warehouse pink blush maxi dress : E130
