Fitness and curves

Just before Christmas I was asked to do an interview for an Irish Fitness magazine supplement. I was delighted because the purpose of the piece was to highlight that you can still be fit and healthy regardless of a persons dress size. I thought January would be the perfect time for a fitness post as most of us are still on the ‘get fit’ 2013 motivation wagon. 😉

What I’m wearing here is what I like to wear in the gym. 3/4 lengths are great whether your tall or petite. These ones are by Nike with a secret draw string on the inside, breathable and extremely comfortable fabric. There are different styles available from fitted, like the one in the photo, to loose fit to comfort fit (slightly baggy style). I’ve worn shorts and full length sports pants but my preference will always lead me back to this style. My trainers are by Asics, they are about â‚¬120 with the gel impression. They are fantastic for training, I couldn’t recommend them enough. 🙂

My sportswear picks

1: Nike, medium gym bag – €45/£38

2:Castaluna, Redoute sport scoop neck t-shirt – €12.80/ £11 sizes 14-32 (online)

3: Adidas, Womens Prime hooded jacket – €45/£38

4:Nike, tight poly fitness pants – €50/£42

5:Sketchers Women’s Go Run – €80/£68 I’ve heard so many good things about these runners/trainers, I can’t wait to try them. They are extremely light and highly recommended for those who enjoy running in particular.

There is plenty of availability out there for sizes 6-16 in sportswear. If you are over a size 16 I’ve found some great places with the exact same selection choices and fashionable styles.

1:Simply Be do a fantastic selection of sportswear from sizes 14 to 24.

2: Castaluna have a nice selection including basic pieces from sizes 14 – 32

3: JC Penny offer some great sportswear and designer sports pieces for the ultra fashionable from Liz Claiborne. They also include specific sports lines for tall and petite ladies.
