10 top trusted haircare products

With the nature of my job I have to keep my hair in good healthy condition. The fact that I have highlighted hair also means I have to make an extra effort as hair can become dry or damaged quite quickly. For those of you that don’t dye your hair but still find it brittle, every day factors from constantly tying your hair up with an elastic band, using a hair straightener too much or even using your hairbrush too firmly can all contribute to weakened hair. I’ve picked some fantastic products on the market at the moment that are great starters to beautiful, shiny and healthy looking locks. There’s a mixture of products from the high end to the average price range but they are certainly worth the investment particularly numbers 4 & 5.

1: Oleo relax smoothing serum by Kerastase This is extremely popular with a lot of people I work with. If your hair has a tendency to get frizzy or tangled quite quickly then this is ideal. After washing your hair, towel dry it and apply a small amount. It smells great and leaves a nice silky texture without it looking greasy. €24 / £20.50 2: Phyto 7 Daily hydrating botanical cream Phyto is an intense leave in hydrating cream. It’s ideal for those with extemely dry hair as it will leave you with. soft smooth locks. Apply on to wet hair, it will spread easily, so not too much of the product is needed. Price: €16 / £13.60 3: Morrocan oil This is a great product for adding shine to your hair. Similar to Oleo relax, apply it on wet hair. For short or thin hair you will need about a small amount around the size of a 20 cent coin. If you have long or thick hair take about a 50 cent coin sized amount. You can also apply it after you have dried your hair for an extra smooth and shiny look. It’s a great product for most hair colours especially brunettes. Some people with thin hair find its too heavy, making their hair look greasy. Instead try the sister product Morrocan oil light. €35 / £30 for 100ml 4: Redkin Anti- Snap If you are trying to grow your hair and prevent breakage, then this is an unbelievable product. Apply an average amount onto wet hair. Don’t use it in conjunction with something else such as an oil based products or moose. It lasts a really long time too, so you certainly get great value for money. I still have mine that I bought about four months ago! Price: €17 / £14.50 5: Macadamia hair mask I was introduced to this product a few months ago by a beauty expert and I haven’t looked back since. It not only moisturises but it leaves your hair feeling great for days afterwards. It contains both Macadamia, Argan and Moroccan oils along with intense nourishing vitamins. Wash your hair with shampoo then leave it in for 15-20 minutes before washing it out. If you have the time put a light heat on your hair and leave it in over night. After you have washed it out apply Kerastase Oleo or Morrocan oil. Your hair will be like silk! 🙂 Price : €27 – €35 / £23 – £28 for 500ml ( you can choose different sizes) See amazon.co.uk for best value 6: Bed Head Dumb Blonde reconstructor for highlighted hair This is another product that is ideal for people trying to grow their hair. If you find your hair is weak and starting to snap due to colour then try this product once a week. It is packed with protein that will help hair reconstruct itself. Don’t use this product more than once or twice a week as too much protein can cause your hair to harden which will just result in more breakage. Also do not use this product in conjunction with Redkin anti snap, the same protein rules apply. Bed head is fantastic for highlighted hair, I can’t recommend it enough as long as you use it correctly. Price: €19 / £16 7: Tresemme heat defence styling spray Tresemme’s heat protectant promises to protect your hair fibres up to 230 degree celcius. Spray it onto wet hair from the mid length of your hair to the bottom. You can use this liberally, ensuring you target all the split end areas. It also contains a moisture complex so you don’t have to worry about your hair looking dried out like other heat protectors can do. Price: €5.70 / £4.69 8: John Freda heat protect This serum is made up of a thermal shield complex so it forms a protective layer on the hair before you dry it. It’s extremely light so it is perfect for all hair types. Price: €5.30/ £6.30 available at Boots 9: John Freda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery mask If I’ve been on a long shoot were my hair has been back combed to every inch of its life, or I’m having a bad frizz day because of a busy week of people working on my hair this is my go to product. Literally leave it in for ten minutes and you will notice an immediate difference. What’s more is that it is so reasonably priced you can’t say no to it 🙂 Price: €6.60/ £5.60 10: Pantene restoratives I like Pantene masks as a quick pick me up for my hair. Restoratives is a particularly good on from their range. If you don’t have the time to give your attention to some of the other masks this one only takes about 3 to 5 minutes and you will see great results for the day. Price : €5.50/ £4.50
