A touch of pink

This week I attended an event that essentially celebrated women in business. I wanted something that was smart but which had my own stamp on it. For this blog post I also wanted to show that even in a professional environment you can still have fun with fashion. Thankfully this season the colour pink has been highlighted as a keen favourite by designers from around the globe, which means adding colour and breaking up black in your wardrobe is becoming easier to achieve.

When I saw these geometric cigarette pants in River Island I knew they were the key piece to the look I was going for. They reminded me of a cross between Mc Queen and Helen Steele prints. The quality is excellent and really well cut giving your bum and legs a nice shape :). Not a bad find for E50/£38, especially when they can easily be worn through to next summer (recession fashion thinking!) 🙂 . This Asos blazer I’m wearing has been a fantastic staple piece in my wardrobe. It is a slightly heavier material than some of the other ones I have, and with the PU trimming it gives a smarter look to it too. It’s a piece you can literally use to smarted up a lot of pieces in your wardrobe.

The top is a loose fitted polyester material but has a nice sheen to it. Here it looks like it has a cut out panel but it’s actually a gold plated design sewn onto the fabric, which is what attracted me to the top in the first place. There is some slight padding to the sleeves at the shoulder area which is very neat, giving a nice shape to your shoulders and your back. It’s perfect if you are quite broad in that area.

I paired this look with a fuschia pink clutch to bring out more of the pink tones in the trousers, followed by a Swarovksi ring and my studded Fearne Cotton heels.
