Cosmopolitan Blog Awards : Best International Fashion Blog with the IFB

Last Wednesday the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards finally arrived. The night was held in the fabulous OXO Tower in Harvey Nichols at Tower Wharf, which showcased some beautiful views of London. I was really honoured to have been nominated for two Cosmopolitan Blog Awards, Best Fashion Blog and Best International Fashion Blog with the IFB. In both categories, the standard was extremely high with amazing bloggers such as Thunder and Threads, So Sue Me, The Beauty Dial, The Makeup Fairy, Fluff and Flipperies, Lulutrixabelle and Miss Drifted Snow White. When Style Me Curvy was announced as the winner for Best International Fashion Blog I really could not believe it! The word ‘thrilled’ would have to be an understatement and I don’t think that I have stopped smiling since! 🙂

I really want to say a huge thank you to Cosmopolitan UK and the IFB for the award. I’ve worked so hard over the past two years to promote diversity in the fashion and beauty world. I wanted to show that style should have no boundaries, its about embracing the body you have and loving it whether you are a size 6 or 26, so to be recognised by such a great publication means so much to me.

The evening itself was fabulous and flawless. There were tonnes of cocktails by Pinky Vodka, from Cosmopolitans (but of course!) to Mojitos! There were gorgeous canapés which my new food blogger friends raved about, with cute cupcakes to finish up the night. The girls from Vita Liberata were at hand to give their top tanning tips with their products. Photobooth mania were also there to take some fun photographs and collages of all the bloggers on the night. Being able to interact and meet so many new bloggers was amazing. I came home with a list as long as my arm of great blogs from Travel, Beauty, Fashion, Food and D.I.Y, not to mention leaving with a monstrous goody bag from Cosmo with everything from Popcorn to Elemis beauty products. 🙂

What I wore & hair and makeup details :

I wanted something pretty yet comfortable so I went for this long sleeve sequinned dress by Derhy. It’s a straight cut but then falls into a skater skirt style pleat at the end. I wanted to put my own twist to it in line with current trends so I put a biker twist to it. I added this biker jacket from Miss Selfridge and my ankle boots. To add some colour, this bold blue clutch from Primark ( Penneys) was a winner especially at €8/£6.50.

For makeup, my lovely friend and makeup artist Kate Synnott came to the apartment to make me look pretty for the event. She used Tom Ford’s ‘Timeless Foundation Stick’ which felt like silk on my skin. I worry about makeup that mattifies too much on my skin because it makes it look really dry. This foundation set really well and gave a nice dewy glow throughout the night. For eyes she went with a smokey brown look as my dress was quite detailed. Lips were kept soft and nude. I used my Mac cream cup lipstick throughout the night to top it up. For hair, I kept it dead straight on one side and on the other I created a tight French plait which I pinned into my hair at the back.
