My budget winter coat find!

I recently featured a piece on Autumn and Winter coats which I can find here. This coat in particular, from Primark (Penneys), caught my eye especially because it was such a bargain find, so it was a great excuse for this outfit post! I wanted to put together a look that will take you from day to night, coming into the Winter months, whether your going from the office, University or from the school runs out for an evening.

There is something interesting I always find about herringbone print. I suppose my adoration for monochrome is certainly part of it, but overall it can look chic and expensive. The size of this coat ranges from sizes 6-20, but it is a generous fit so a size 20 would fit someone who is a size 22-24. The coat is cocoon shaped which is one of this seasons favourites but depending on the colour, length and fit it can make you look much bigger than you are. Thankfully this design is really flattering because of the detail with black PU lines breaking up the print, giving the illusion of a smaller frame. The line detail is a good thing to look out for if your looking for a cocoon style coat. For me because I’m quite broad on top, the faux fur around the neckline actually contributes to more of a slim lined effect.

Back detail:

The PU sleeves on this piece was a huge plus for me. With a lot of cost friendly brands, PU sleeves can look cheap and the fit can be a bit bizarre. This fitted perfectly and it didn’t look like I had just cut out a bin liner. Haha. :)I paired the coat with a digital print shift dress from last season, which I felt worked well if you wanted to keep the coat open. The boots are also from Primark and I have to say they are extremely comfortable. I’ve been wearing them over the last few days for going to castings so they work great for day or night.
