Stepping into Autumn

Curvy fashion autumn

In last weeks outfit post I featured my first coat for the Autumn on Style Me Curvy. Over the next few weeks I will have a series of coat posts in order to help you find the perfect one for your own personal style and shape for the the Autumn and Winter months. This weeks coat is from New Look, it’s a beautiful shade of red that combines a boucle feel with a smart collarless edge.

Red coat

It grabbed my attention recently as it reminded me of one of my favourite blazers seen here, but a long lined version of it. The fit is quite generous so I would definitely recommend going down a size. Here I am wearing a size 14. As the size ranges up to an 18, I would definitely say that it would fit up to a size 20-22 easily. It has a very faint a-line cut to it which would be extremely flattering on a number of body types such as apple, hourglass and pear shapes, but particularly for those with a fuller bust as oftentimes coats with big collars and lapels can add extra bulk to your frame. In terms of practicality this will be very easy to be dressed up or down, and though I hate mentioning the Christmas word so early, it will look so beautiful around that time. I’m already thinking of all the party looks this coat could go with!!

For this post I decided to pair the coat with a number of key pieces that will work easily in your wardrobe. Checkered prints are a HUGE hit this season in all kinds of styles from the classic to the more modern styles. The fact that this top is a box cut means it will work with a multitude of things from jeans, to skirts or even layered over a plain black dress to give it a revamped look.

Fitted lycra trousers with PU panelled detail are my number one must have for this season. They  give such an interesting and chic addition to any look. I will definitely be investing in more variations of this styles over the next few months because they really make a difference to even the most basic outfit, not to mention how incredibly comfortable they are to wear. For tall girls, I find Asos and Vero Moda have a very good selection online. For petite ladies Dorothy Perkins and Very have a number of great options.

accessories 2014

For accessories, this tote bag was the main emphasis which was simple but effective. Both the necklace and this gold cuff are from Primark, I find that the black and gold combination is quite clean so it gives a fuss free approach to jewellery. When it came to boots, this New Look cut out style were a perfect choice and are ideal for pairing with jeans, dresses or skirts to create a really on trend look.
