My top 4 August beauty favourites

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Recently I’ve been hearing so many good things about this foundation, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. For years I was an avid user of Armani’s Hydra Glow foundation which was discontinued about five years ago and subsequently I’ve trolled the foundation seas every now and again to get a similar consistency, light, dewy, luminous, and long lasting – which sounds like the beauty myth of myths but it does exist, I promise! This has similar qualities and I do find it great for the humidity, and while I’ve only been test driving it a week or so, it is in the foundation favourites pile for the moment. Shade I’m using: 4.5 Price: €50/ £35 found in Brown Thomas, Selfridges and Macy’s.

The Body Shop Italian Summer Fig Eau De Toilette

Next is one of my beauty weaknesses, which is of course perfume. In particular I have a love of all things Italian, it’s been instilled in me since I was little as my dad’s grandmother was Sicilian. My dad worked for 30 years back and forth to various parts of the country, his favourite is Rome, and mine also, where the scent of fig is quite dominant in a lot of Italian soaps and scents.

When I opened this new Eau De Toilette* from the Body Shop Italian Summer Fig, it stopped me in my tracks, sentimental for sure, but they have definitely nailed this scent so incredibly well that I instantly felt transported back to the Spanish Steps and the Via Veneto.

Price € 24 / £19 from The Body Shop

Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Shampoo

As I’ve quite long hair, during the summer months I’m almost washing my hair every day which isn’t the best for preventing damage. I heard about Kevin Murphy hair products on a shoot a year ago and any time they’ve been used on my hair we instantly get on, although I do find them hard to come across in the UK and Ireland so ideally I find buying K.M products online is the most straightforward way.

Everyone’s hair takes to things differently and dry shampoos are another fine example of that. I was sent this product last month and again it was a great match for my hair, as it gave a light fresh feel. I hate that talc feeling or that dreaded brittle dryness a lot of dry shampoos can give so this is currently in my beauty favourites drawer.

Where to find: Shampoo.ie and various online retailers

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep

Finally one of my favourite products of August ( possibly even from the whole Summer) is this gem. For those who have followed this blog for some time, it’s no secret that I’m a Vichy Idealia fan. When the night cream version Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep* came out recently I was at the launch at the frontline to check it out. The consistency has more of a gel like effect than it’s sister product Vichy Idealia moisturiser, but with a similar scent and great spreadable qualities which I really liked.

Each morning when you wake up after using this I did see a noticeable difference with pores appearing more refined and overall more of a well rested look when really I probably only had four hours sleep! So it has indeed been tried and tested!Haha. As I have quite sensitive skin I do find I’ve been limited to what I can use in the past as I find a lot of night creams can be quite heavy and lead to clogged pores, but so far I’m really pleased with this beauty as it seems to be a very balanced product for even more complicated people like myself with dehydrated combination skin.

Where to find: Most pharmacies that stock Vichy and Boots : €35 / £26

Be sure to let me know what your own August favourites have been this month too!
