Vichy Dermablend product review

For this review, I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun trying out products. Vichy’s Dermablend was created 30 years ago to help women concealed their skin problems from depigmentation to scarring. This month the new Dermablend range has launched with updated their formulas along with a wider range of products to help bring confidence to people with various skin issues. It’s a range that is currently being used by makeup artist on shoots to everyday life, so I was really interested to know more about it. I tried it out on my own skin but I knew that alone wouldn’t give me huge insight, so instead I took to the kitchen to find any surface humanly possible that I could cover. The fridge, the marble countertop, fruit, even parts of the kitchen table! I thought this would be a great way to really test its durability and consistency for the three items I was sent. First up, we have the Dermablend Corrective Compact 12Hr Cream Foundation.

I tested this one out on my own skin first to see what the finish would be like. It has a very natural look to it. As it is a strong foundation, if it is not carefully applied it could give a caked effect as it is a compact – most compacts would do this also. This is perfect size and packaging for busy people on the go, as you have an ideal application sponge to avoid any mess. For skin types the consistency is best suited for those with oily to normal and combination skin types. If like me you have dry to very dry skin, then I think the Corrective Fluid Foundation would be better suited accompanied with a hydrating moisturising base.

I used an apple here to showcase the coverage of just one layer. Hardly any redness of the apple showed through and even its spotted pigments were covered within seconds. Ideal for covering – Light scars – Acne – Redness – Random breakouts *Available in 5 shades Price: £19.50/ €24.50 for 9.5g Vichy’s Dermablend Corrective Stick

As a concealer this would be in your heavy duty category for strong coverage. It would be up there for me in line with the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer. The formula consists of carnauba wax and beeswax which gives way to hydration whilst also ensuring good blendability and buildable coverage. I found it spread extremely easy and very little is needed when applying this to an area.

It would be a perfect addition to complement the compact or the Total Body Foundation which is featured below. The packaging is perfect, making it an ideal companion for your makeup bag even if it’s just to hide those dreaded dark circles after a long week. Ideal for covering: – To target small areas – Dark circles – Combined coverage with other Dermablend products *Available in 5 shades

Price: £14.50/€16.95 for 4.5g

Total Body Corrective Foundation – 16hr

Without a doubt this is my favourite item of the three. It’s versatility is endless. For those with tattoos or heavy scarring that you might want covered, then this is the go to product. It has a very light feeling to it but with a high coverage. If you happen to have a tattoo with lots of dark undertones however, you would need to complement it with the Dermablend Corrective Stick first, then smooth it over with the foundation for a flawless finish. After applying this product let it dry for around 2 minutes. Following this you will find there won’t be any transfer marks onto clothing. To test is resistance to water I applied some to my arm, poured warm water over it, washed my arm under a tap of cold water and still, it didn’t budge! Excellent! 🙂

Applied one light layer to a wood table, the grain was covered extremely well! 🙂

Even if you don’t have specific scarring but you would love some flawless looking legs on a night out, or cover up any annoying bruises this give a beautiful finish. It would be heavier than Mac Face and Body Foundation yet lighter than the Sally Hansen for Legs consistency, giving true Victoria’s Secret legs. Now because of level of coverage, if you were to apply it to somewhere like your arms or neck you would need to complement it with the DermaBlend Setting powder to ensure you have a natural finish to it. If you can’t get your hands on it then try to find a setting powder that is water resistance and transparent so it won’t affect the shade of the Body Foundation. Ideal for covering: – Tattoos – Stretch marks – Scars – Redness – Rosacea – Bruising * Available in 3 shades Price: £20/€25 for 100ml * For any of the items in this range, you will find they are all hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin and offer a high level of water resistance. *As the products come in various shades its important to match it to your skin correctly, especially  if you have large areas which you wish to cover yet obtain a natural effect.
