Boohoo.com Plus Review

Back in March Boohoo.com launched their first plus size collection. It was something I’ve been meaning to try out for Style Me Curvy for some weeks now. I’ve never actually owned anything from Boohoo in the past in all honesty as their sizes stopped at a 14 and I have more of a 14-16 frame. I was sent a few items to review which I couldn’t wait to get my hands on, naturally as a result of the latter.

I wanted to put together something with a sports luxe feel. This bomber jacket from Boohoo was the perfect asset to achieve just that. During Fashion Week a number of designers looked to this style as part of their key summer pieces. On the catwalks it was seen by Prabal Gurung, Balmain, Marc Jacobs and Victoria Beckham who all utilised this style in various ways paired with shorts, over dresses and as I have it here with a midi skirt. It’s proved to be a versatile piece for Summer and no doubt will be for the Autumn/Winter too.

I loved the texture of the jacket as the quilted fabric makes it easy to style for day or night. The size was perfect and the length sits just nicely around the waist so it doesn’t add bulk to your body like some longer lined bomber styles can do.

Because the skirt is white I did find it slightly see-through so I added a nude slip underneath to ensure I wouldn’t be pulling a Rihanna at the CFDA awards! 😉 The skirt would be slightly looser than most midi skirts. It fits nicely around the hips and loose at the end so there would be more movement than your average pencil style skirts. The fabric is similar to the top and for the price point of €9/£6, it blows a number of other plus size brands out of the water.

This bag is faux pony skin, it comes in a variety of colours but I thought the monochrome touch to it was interesting and pulled everything together.

White shoes are something I have underestimated in the past, I liked the subtle strap detail which is just enough given the thickness of the platform front and block heel. It gives an instant burst of freshness to a wardrobe.

Overall Boohoo’s plus size collection has left a great impression with me. For the price and on trend looks, they really seem to have their fingers on the fashion pulse when it comes to bringing great looks for bigger sizes and I really applaud them. Their plus size collection ranges from sizes 16-24 which you can check out here. If you’ve tried any items from their Plus Size collection too I’d love to hear what you thought of it.
