Image Magazine Business Of Beauty Awards 2016: What I Wore

On Sunday I was a guest of skincare brand Imedeen who invited me to attend the Image Magazine Business Of Beauty Awards. Imedeen were one of the key sponsors of the night so it was really lovely to sit with the brand for the evening and hear about their product. As it was a gala event, a floor length evening dress was in order. It’s something I get asked about so often for curvy girls so I thought with the week that was in it, it only made sense to write a full blog post. If you follow me on Snapchat I’ve spoken at length before on occasion wear dresses. For size 16 and upwards it’s particularly difficult to get your hands on a fashionable and colourful number for bigger sizes. I happened to meet the owner of Cari’s Closet dress hire recently who was incredibly helpful and was keen to dress my size 16 frame. The dress has a corseted back meaning it can fit up to a size 18 or can even be tightened down to a size 14 also. It’s an ideal style if you are inbetween sizes too and as it’s a corseted bodice with an a-line cut it will work perfectly on practically any body type.

The dress is broken up by soft embellished detail along the waistband which means not too much accessorising is needed. It also has pockets which I absolutely adored as it’s hard to come across yet so practical! It’s currently available to rent from their Malahide store but the company have numerous stores around the country in Belfast, Galway and Cork who have various dresses in curvier sizes too!

With my blogger beauties on the night, Louise Cooney (LouiseCooney.com), Lauren Arthurs ( Love Lauren Blog)  and Grace Mongey ( Faces By Grace).

Hair and makeup

As the dress was quite Grace Kelly inspired, I didn’t want to go too modern with my hair and makeup. If you are not too familiar with Charlotte Tilbury makeup, then in a nutshell she’s an international makeup artist  (super genius of makeup mastery to be more precise!) who set up her own brand. She’s created ten different key makeup looks for people to pick and choose from which is really helpful if you’re not 100% sure of what you want.

I opted for the ‘ La Dolce Vita‘ look which is a combination of gold, brown and copper tones. It costs around 35 euro for a makeup application which is redeemable against products too! For hair, I went for some Reese Witherspoon Oscars inspired hair with a loose wave. The front was given more of a clean definition – pinned back at either side of my hairline. Aaron at Peter Mark used Redkin’s super strength hairspray to keep my hair in place for the day!
