Wedding Guest Fashion & Beauty

This is a another by request post this week for those who might be stressed out as to what to wear for a wedding in the next few weeks and in the run up to December. I’ve picked this specific look that I think will work for a variety of shapes and I’ve also added a gallery at the bottom of this post for alternative options all that come in a broad selection of sizes. For the beauty lovers, I’ve also added my wedding guest S.O.S beauty favourites but I’ll go into more detail further on in this post on that.

Today’s dress is something I came across recently and just had to buy it ( I’ve a number of weddings to go to in the next few months so I have to start planning!!) I loved the fact that it had a bit of an autumnal feel to it but that I could easily re wear it in the Summer next year. Price wise I was actually quite happy with it as the quality was great and anything similar I had seen was easily €200-300 plus. This came in at around €140 which I found online and the size ranges in 8-20. I opted for the size 18 and would say if you are quite busty in anyway there was plenty of room! If you are more of a pear shape or hourglass then a 16 would worked perfectly for you.

In terms of accessories, less is more as the dress is a statement in itself. Plain black accessories, metallics or nude shades would work perfectly!

Top tip:

If you find a bandeau dress and want to A) Change up the style for a different occasion or B) have more coverage- look to items you can layer with such as a long sleeve black mesh top for more of an on trend appeal or as discussed in my last post embrace a fitted white shirt – as the bandeau style hugs your body you will still have shape and structure even with a fine layer underneath. You can also look to the likes of a cropped blazer for a smart tailored feel – places such as Coast, Simply Be and Next do plenty of those styles. And for those who might just want more of a strap effect to be able to wear various bra options, you could easily sew black straps into this with a bit of DIY and it would work too.

                             Wedding Guest Beauty Favourites

When it comes to occasions particularly weddings, the day is quite long so when you apply your makeup and beauty products that morning you have to pretty much hope it lasts for the day. These are some of my hard core beauty favourites that have been constantly reliable for me on those extremely long days which I thought might be helpful for some of you.

The St. Tropez Instant Tan 24 hour wash off face and body lotion has been a welcomed addition to my beauty bag. I collaborated with the brand last month but already this is my second purchase of it. My key thing for instant tans that say “water resistant” is to be sure that it’s ACTUALLY water resistant! There is nothing worse than getting caught in the rain and having rain droplet marks from where the tan has worn off. You can also add the St.Tropez body gloss over this product so it doubles up as a beautiful sunkissed glow concoction ( always welcomed for days when you’ve been to tired do your full spray tan!). Brown Thomas either online or in store is one of the easier places to get both together I find. Next, the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. This has been out a few years and while I don’t use it every day I do take it out for special occasions particularly when I want to be extra sure my eyeshadow will stay put for the day and night. It won’t effect the colour of your eyeshadow whatsoever and it’s extremely light so you won’t feel like you’re eyelids are being weighed down with product either! Tom Ford Black Orchid Perfume and Spanish Pink lipstick. I’m a huge Tom Ford fan, I just love everything about their products to the packaging and while it’s more of a premium price point I do tend to try keep them for “good wear” particularly the perfume.  It’s such an usual scent and it has great longevity to it ( the bottle is surprisingly neat so you could put it in a larger clutch bag).

Gel soles need no introduction they are the ultimate sore footsie go tos for me. These particular ones are from Primark for around €2 and do the job perfectly! Before I leave the house even during Fashion Weeks I add these to my shoes on the day. It means your feet are cushioned for hours and you’ll find they won’t start to ache as quick as they normally would in heels.

Glowstarter is new to the Glamglow family which they kindly sent me a few weeks ago. It’s an illuminating moisturiser that’s ideal for those who would have dry or dehydrated skin and would be in need of an instant boost of luminosity. This particular one has a pearl effect so you’ll find your makeup has that added radiance glow to it.

For Primers, again I wouldn’t use this every day personally, but for special occasions I think they are worth looking into. There are tonnes of great ones on the market from SmashBox to Estee Lauder and Mac – my current go to however are theUrban Decay Primer sprays as I find them really light and seems to just suit my skin type.
