Pink Crush

Well ladies, September is nearly among us ( as of tomorrow to be exact). And I can’t help but feel like the Summer has just completely flown past us. There are still so many pretty things I wanted to wear, so many bright tropical colours which will alas have to be packed away soon, but I’m not giving up on my enthusiasm for colour just yet! For this post I wanted to delicately introduce a coat for the Autumn Winter, and no better way than through this beautiful candy floss pink from South.

The cocoon shape coat is a huge hit again this season, and something that will really work as a statement piece in your wardrobe. In terms of fit this particular style has more of a masculine twist to it, so it is important to keep your proportions balanced. It’s easily done like with the items I’ve put together today. I find pink is a shade which is really flattering on all skin tones, it’s soft and by opting for more of a pastel shade like here, you will find a multitude of things that it will work with in your wardrobe from LBD’s, to tailored cigarette trousers and casual jeans.

The length is also ideal for various heights so if you’re petite this will sit closer to the knee and still give a great look, or if you are very tall it will give more of a long lined blazer look to it. In terms of warmth it’s ideal from now into the Winter months, it’s fully lined and surprisingly warm considering it’s so light to wear.

A number of jeans will work with this but I opted for ones with a slight acid wash mixed with a worn denim look. Together it brings an edge to a girly and colourful look. I was happy with the overall fit but I did have to roll them up at the bottom as they were slightly baggy, nothing that I’d consider to be a big issue as they work well with heels, but for flat shoes I would recommend converse or an ankle boot that comes up quite high.

This top certainly grabbed my attention through it’s silk floral print, which gave a nod to Dolce and Gabbana as well as  MSGM’s A/W 14 collections. When paired with the coat it looks very neat, then on its own it has a beautiful oversized feel to it which is something I wouldn’t normally go for. The use of colours really complimented the coat, but it’s also an item I felt that I could wear from now right through to next Summer.

It has a combination of a batwing sleeve which is met with a grey cotton on the back meaning it’s extremely breathable and unbelievably comfortable. As it may not be the best for showing off your shape I think it is important to keep your bottom half balanced with a good pair of fitted jeans.

In terms of accessories very little is needed with so many colours, I fell in love with this Kardashian bracelet which in real life looks so much more expensive than it is!  I added this pink bag as a nice change from black, and as the shade of pink was on the same colour chart as the coat, it worked perfectly!
