Evans makes London Fashion Week Curve History

Tuesday marked London Fashion Week curve history as Evans showcased their first ever catwalk show. Last week at New York Fashion week designers such as Chromat featured plus size models in their show. This week we saw a curvy brand embrace all the element of high fashion, producing an entire show of various shapes and sizes. Evans hosted an incredible show of collaborations with top designers to create Evans Design Collectives with the likes of Clements Ribeiro, Lulu Liu, Giles Deacon, Hema Kaul, Jamie Wei Huang and Vita Gottlieb. Together they pushed the boundaries of fashion all the more for the plus size fashion industry highlighting beautiful designs in a stunning high fashion way.

This show was top secret and it was very hard to keep it quiet as myself and a number of international bloggers had known about it for some time. The evening before hand 22 bloggers and writers from around the globe celebrated a pre Evans LFW dinner with the brand at the Kettners restaurant in London. The following day we all met with the Evans team to check out some beautiful new jewelry from the Daisy & Eve collection before we were brought to the show to witness some plus size fashion history on the front row. It was slightly extra special for me as I had a number of good friends walking in the show who had been flown over from the U.S. 

                                                        All from Design Collective  During the show I really loved the unique cuts and items that wouldn’t usually be associated with a plus size brand such as two pieces, which was truly wonderful to see. When there were black items featured, they would either be paired with a bold bright shade or on trend mesh and organza fabrics. One of my favourite looks was worn by model Marquita Pring who sported a stunning bold blue two piece and neon jacket which left everyone wowed at the show.

        The Cut for Evans                        Clements Riberio                                    Clements Riberio Bold prints were extremely welcomed into this collection and were truly the icing on the cake to a extremely well designed collection. The first image we see lighter space inspired print and tones from The Cut For Evans then onto bolder prints from Clements Riberio in the latter two.

         Giles Deacon                            Jamie Wei Huan                                        Jamie Wei Huan Soft metallics, silvers mixed with turquoise were such enjoyable combinations to watch. One of my favourites was this cream dungarees inspired dress from Jamie Wei Huan which had such incredible textures to it. The photos alone doesn’t do it justice but it’s on my list for sure! I was really astounded by the looks that were created. So innovative, with beautiful colour combinations and designs that were made for curvier body types. Evans have always been leaders in their field, and when someone at this level leads the way others tend to follow. I am truly hoping this is the start of many curves to be feature at Fashion Week not just in London or in New York.

The day running up to the show: 

It was fantastic to finally cross paths with so many amazing fashion bloggers that are just as lovely in person as they are on their blogs. Certainly two days I will never forget. Lou.x
